How it works
Your basic pay is assumed to be a percentage of gross yearly CTC (40% by default, a common employer split). Employee Provident Fund is deducted at 12% of basic pay, professional tax is a flat ₹2,400 a year, and income tax is computed with the same new-regime slabs as the Income Tax Calculator. Take-home yearly pay is gross minus tax, PF and professional tax; take-home monthly is that figure divided by 12.
Example
A ₹12,00,000 CTC with a 40% basic works out to ₹57,600 PF, ₹2,400 professional tax and zero income tax after the standard deduction and 87A rebate — ₹95,000 in hand every month. At ₹20,00,000 CTC the same 40% split gives roughly ₹1,42,433 a month after ₹1,92,400 of tax and ₹96,000 of PF.
Frequently asked questions
Why does PF use 12% of basic, not gross?
Indian PF rules base the contribution on basic pay (plus certain allowances), which is usually well below gross CTC — this keeps the deduction realistic.
Is ₹2,400 professional tax the same everywhere?
No — professional tax is set by each state and can range from zero to about ₹2,500 a year. ₹2,400 is used here as a common representative figure.
Does this include the employer's PF contribution?
No — CTC often includes the employer's matching PF and other benefits that never reach your bank account; this calculator estimates only the employee-side take-home.
Is the result exact?
It is a close estimate — actual PF, professional tax and any additional employer deductions vary by company and state, so always confirm against your payslip.
