Add or remove GST at any rate and see the CGST/SGST split — for invoices, quotes and price checks.

Base amount
₹1,000
GST (18%) = CGST ₹90 + SGST ₹90
₹180
Total
₹1,180

How it works

Adding GST multiplies the base price by the rate: GST = base × rate ÷ 100. Removing GST works backwards from an inclusive price: base = total ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100). For intra-state supplies the GST amount splits equally into CGST and SGST; inter-state supplies charge the full amount as IGST instead.

Example

A ₹1,000 service at 18% attracts ₹180 GST (₹90 CGST + ₹90 SGST), totalling ₹1,180. Given a ₹1,180 inclusive bill, Remove mode recovers the ₹1,000 base.

Frequently asked questions

Which GST rates exist?

Common slabs are 0.25%, 3%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, depending on the goods or services. Check the current rate for your item.

When is it CGST+SGST vs IGST?

Sales within a state split into CGST and SGST; sales across states charge IGST equal to the full rate.

Why does Remove mode not just subtract 18%?

Because the 18% was charged on the base, not the total. Subtracting 18% of the total would over-remove.

Can I use this for invoices?

Yes for the arithmetic — but invoice format and rate applicability should follow your GST practitioner's advice.
