How it works

Marks-to-percentage divides the marks obtained by the total marks and multiplies by 100. The reverse direction — percentage to required marks — multiplies the target percentage by the total marks and divides by 100; the two calculations are inverses of the same relationship, just solved for a different unknown.

Example

Scoring 432 out of 600 is exactly 72%. To score 85% on a paper worth 500 marks, a student needs 425 marks — the second calculator answers that question directly instead of requiring manual algebra.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for any total, like 100, 500 or 600?

Yes — enter the actual total marks for your exam; the formula scales to any total.

What if I enter a total of 0?

The percentage calculator shows no result, since dividing by zero total marks is undefined — enter the real total marks for the exam.

Can I use decimals, like 432.5 marks?

Yes — both calculators accept decimal marks and percentages, useful for exams that award half-marks.

Does this apply to CGPA?

No — CGPA uses a different, board-specific conversion; use the CGPA to Percentage Converter for that instead.
