Fuel Cost Calculator

Work out how much fuel a trip needs and what it will cost, from distance, mileage and fuel price.

Trip cost
₹2,100
Fuel needed
20.00 litres

How it works

Litres needed = trip distance ÷ mileage (km per litre); trip cost = litres needed × price per litre. The calculator simply rearranges the everyday 'how far will a tank take me' question into the litres and rupees you'll actually spend.

Example

A 300 km trip in a car that does 15 km/l, with petrol at ₹105/litre, needs exactly 20 litres and costs ₹2,100 — handy for comparing a road trip against a flight, or splitting fuel cost between passengers.

Frequently asked questions

What if my mileage varies with load or driving style?

Use a realistic average for the trip — highway mileage is usually better than city mileage, so adjust the figure accordingly for a more accurate estimate.

Does this include tolls or other trip expenses?

No — it only calculates the fuel component; add tolls, parking and food separately for a full trip budget.

Can I use it for electric vehicles?

Not directly — this tool assumes litres of fuel; for an EV, divide distance by the vehicle's km-per-kWh figure and multiply by your electricity price per kWh instead.

What happens if I enter 0 for mileage?

The calculator returns no result, since dividing distance by zero mileage is undefined — enter your vehicle's actual mileage.
